It is with great sadness that the family of Robert Gerald Hartley announces his passing on February 12, 2026, at the age of 74.

Bob was the proud and loving father of Blane “Boy” Hartley (Carol) and Brooke “Brooklette” Ronan (Justin). He was the brother of Pat (the late Dave), uncle to Leah and Kendra (Jeremy), and great-uncle to Samuel and Malachi. Bob was predeceased by his parents, Calvin and Dorothy, and his sister, Sandi (Carol).

Bob was a quirky man with a bold sense of humour. After retiring from Suncor, he spent his time fishing from his tin boat, researching ancestry, and completing home improvements – always including a daily stop at his favourite establishment. He was a frugal man but a generous tipper, and a lover of science fiction and his cats Jenny, Scooter, Gordie, and Laddie.

Bob’s legacy lives on through his children, who inherited his love for Michael Crichton, animals, and Taco Bell.

Bob had an incredible support system of personal support workers, nurses, and doctors over the past year. Thank you to every single one of you for your empathy and compassion.
