Canadian songwriter Zachary Lucky brings folk and roots to Sarnia

Canadian folk and roots artist Zachary Lucky, whose storytelling has earned him comparisons to Gordon Lightfoot, is bringing songs from his new album The Wind to Maud’s Variety in Sarnia on December 4th.

Canadian folk and roots songwriter Zachary Lucky is bringing his tour to Sarnia for a performance at Maud's Variety on December 4th. The musician, who is a laureate of the lonesome song, will be sharing songs from his latest release, The Wind.

The performance starts at 7:30 PM, and tickets will be available for $10.00 at the door.

Lucky, who hails from the Canadian Prairies, crafts songs steeped in place, memory, and the quiet resilience of everyday life. His warm baritone voice and evocative storytelling have drawn comparisons to celebrated songwriters like Gordon Lightfoot and Kris Kristofferson.

His newest album, The Wind, was released on November 1, 2024, and has received rave reviews from international publications. KLOF Magazine (UK) called it “up there with the best, alongside Guy Clark, Tom Rush, and Townes Van Zandt.”

The album was also featured in Bandcamp's Best of November 2024 list, where they noted, “Lucky’s resonant baritone feels like a soft and comforting pillow, and the strums of his acoustic guitar sound so close, you’ll swear you’re inside the thing.”

Zachary Lucky is the grandson of Canadian country music pioneer Smilin’ Johnnie Lucky and has continued the family legacy through his hard work in the independent music scene. He often performs well over a hundred shows each year.

A seasoned road veteran, Lucky has toured extensively across Canada, completed multiple European tours, a run of dates in Japan, and a coast-to-coast tour of the United States. His commitment to authenticity has earned him a loyal following across the world.

Outlets like No Depression and The Globe and Mail have praised him as a master storyteller, reserving his spot among the foremost voices in contemporary Canadian roots music.
