Free author talks, music photography, and community history celebrations bring local culture into Sarnia libraries this fall.

Lambton County Library is opening its doors this September and October to free Culture Days events that invite the community to explore local history, literature, music, and storytelling. Culture Days is a national celebration of arts, culture, and heritage, and this year the library is using the occasion to connect people through shared cultural experiences.
"Libraries bring people together around stories, ideas and shared experiences, which makes Culture Days a natural fit for Lambton County Library," said Adrianne Lebert, Public Services Coordinator for Adult Programs and Outreach. "Whether you're interested in local history, Canadian authors, music or the outdoors, we hope people will find something that sparks their curiosity and brings them together with others in the community."
The lineup spans multiple interests. On September 23, music photographer Richard Beland shares decades of stories from behind the lens, documenting some of Canada's biggest musical names. The evening takes place at Sarnia Library Theatre (6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., 124 Christina Street South) and also features live music from Jeff Getty and friends.
Two author talks follow: award-winning writer and historian Gary May discusses Unburdening: A Novel on September 26 (1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Sarnia Library Theatre), and Canadian paddling expert Kevin Callan, known as "The Happy Camper," shares outdoor adventures on October 1 (6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Sarnia Library Theatre).
The library is also inviting the community to celebrate Plympton-Wyoming's 25th anniversary through a show and tell event. Community members can bring photographs, keepsakes, and stories connected to the municipality's history to share and display. The event takes place September 24 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Camlachie Library (6745 Camlachie Road) and repeats October 1 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Wyoming Library (536 Niagara Street). The celebration is presented in partnership with Lambton County Museums.
All events are free. Visit lclibrary.ca for more information, or culturedays.ca for additional Culture Days events across Canada.
