Residents are invited to submit their best shots of the Lake Huron horizon for a chance to be featured in the museum’s upcoming Bluewaterland feature exhibition.

Lambton Heritage Museum is inviting photographers and nature lovers to showcase their best sunset shots in a new community contest. The initiative aims to capture the specific beauty of the Lake Huron horizon as seen from the shores of Lambton County.
The contest runs from Feb. 16 to March 8, 2026. Winning submissions will be professionally printed and framed for the "Huron Glow Collection," a key part of the museum's upcoming Bluewaterland exhibition.
The museum has announced several incentives for local contributors:
Photographs can feature sunsets from any season and may include coastlines, people, or animals. However, all entries must have been taken within Lambton County to qualify for the local collection.
Participants are limited to one photo submission per person. Entries will be judged based on colour, composition, and creativity.
Dana Thorne, Curator and Supervisor with Lambton Heritage Museum, described the experience of watching the sun sink into the lake as "mesmerizing." The sky often appears ablaze with rich colours that dance on the water’s surface.
The museum’s goal is to translate that specific feeling of being on the shoreline into a visual experience for visitors. The Bluewaterland exhibition is scheduled to run from May 13 to Oct. 18, 2026.
Submissions can be made through the online form at lambtonmuseums.ca/sunset. For more details, residents can visit the museum's website at heritagemuseum.ca.
