The City of Sarnia is inviting residents to explore a diverse lineup of spring activities and fitness programs during an upcoming open house at the Strangway Centre.

Residents looking to stay active this spring can get a head start by attending the Strangway Centre’s 2026 Open House on March 7. The free event runs from 9:30 a.m. to noon and features facility tours, ukulele performances, and opportunities to meet instructors.
Registration for the full slate of spring recreation programming officially opens on March 17. The city plans to release the complete program lineup for public review on March 3 through its online recreation portal.
“As the days grow brighter, the Strangway Centre is buzzing with energy, creativity, and connection,” said Activities Programmer Mike Neely. He noted that the offerings range from fitness and wellness to arts, outdoor sports, and social programs.
The spring 2026 schedule includes a mix of returning favourites and new additions. Highlights for the upcoming season include:
Hobby Shop — A woodworking space providing opportunities for hands-on creativity.
Drop-in Chat & Play — A social program blending conversation with casual games.
Golf Lessons — Instructional sessions designed to develop skills for all levels in a relaxed setting.
Tao Yin Yoga — A mindful practice emphasizing ease over stiff stretching or long holds.
All Things Drawing — An introductory course teaching various artistic techniques and mediums.
Men’s Recreational Two-Pitch — A fun, skill-inclusive league for local men.
The Strangway Centre remains a vital hub for community connection, serving approximately 2,000 unique participants through more than 85 annual programs. While the open house provides a preview, memberships can also be purchased on-site during the event.
To view the program lineup starting March 3, residents can visit the city's recreation website. Registration can be completed online, by phone at 519-332-0656, or in person at the Strangway Centre or City Hall.
