St. Catharines sludge rock band Ivy Gardens will bring their cross-Canada “Live or Die Tour” to Sarnia’s AJ’s Bar on September 13 in support of their new album, “Death of Don Valley.”

St. Catharines-based sludge rock band Ivy Gardens is set to perform in Sarnia on Sept. 13 at AJ's Bar as part of their "Live or Die Tour."
The cross-Canada tour supports their new album, "Death of Don Valley," scheduled for release on August 29. The record is a concept album exploring themes of death, decay, and environmental erosion, rooted in the history of the Don Valley River.
The band describes the new material, including recent music videos for songs like 'Eye Witness' and 'Burden,' as being designed for a live setting, promising a raw and unfiltered performance.
“‘Death of Don Valley’ is the natural progression of their sound, with more complexity and a deliberate thematic structure,” the band explained in a release. “Musically, it marks a shift in Ivy Gardens’ approach. This album is darker, more experimental, and more intricate than our previous work on 2024’s ‘Goon.’ While ‘Goon’ carried a more positive, energetic vibe, this LP is more about confronting the darker aspects of life, and it reflects a deeper exploration into musical and thematic complexity.”
The Sarnia show is one of more than two dozen stops on the tour, which spans from Ontario to British Columbia and the Maritimes. Listeners can find the band's music on platforms like Spotify.
