Lambton County Library has expanded its "Library of Things" with the addition of ukulele kits, marking the first time the library has offered a musical instrument for borrowing. Library cardholders in Sarnia-Lambton can now borrow these kits for up to 21 days.

Each ukulele kit is designed for beginners and includes all necessary components. The kits contain a concert-sized ukulele, an electronic tuner, and a protective carrying case.

This new offering aligns with the library’s broader collection of borrowable, non-traditional items. The "Library of Things" already includes snowshoes, pedometers, GPS geocaching units, tool kits, and various sports kits.

Kevin Coates, Public Services Coordinator, Collections, highlighted the low barrier to entry for the new kits. "The ukulele is a great instrument for anyone to discover the joy of making music," Coates said. "The ukulele kits are a great way to learn to play a musical instrument without the cost or commitment".

To reserve a kit, cardholders can visit LCLibrary.ca, use the Iguana app on a mobile device, or contact any Lambton County Library location.

Library cards are free for anyone who lives, works, studies, or owns property in Lambton County, or is a resident of a First Nations community in Ontario. More information on becoming a cardholder is available at lclibrary.ca/apply.
