Waterloo alt-rock band Awake & Dreaming debuts album at Refined Fool

The four-piece plays Sarnia on Sept. 18, releasing their debut record Inevitable one month later.

Awake & Dreaming, an alt-rock four-piece from Waterloo, Ontario, will perform at Refined Fool Brewing Co. on Friday, Sept. 18. Doors open at 8 p.m. and tickets are $20. The show features supporting acts Little White Lies and A Loud Thing.

The band releases its debut album, Inevitable, on Friday, Oct. 16. The 10-track record spans 48 minutes and explores themes of remaining human in a world built to numb connection. Piano-driven verses build into walls of distorted guitar, with quiet moments designed to feel vulnerable and louder passages earned through dynamic range.

Lead single Underwater drops on Sept. 18, the day of the Sarnia show. The track is described as a 2 a.m. self-talk session that floats until the water starts rising.

The album was mixed by Jay Dufour, who has nine Juno Award credits including work with July Talk and Billy Talent. Mastering was handled by João Carvalho, whose credits include Rush and The Tragically Hip. The band has accumulated over 280,000 Spotify streams to date.

Awake & Dreaming is on a ten-date Ontario and Quebec tour that closes at the Rivoli in Toronto on Oct. 10. A signed first pressing of 100 vinyl copies will be available exclusively at shows.
