Young performers invited to take the stage in Theatre Sarnia’s summer programs

Theatre Sarnia Youth Group is offering three summer theatre camps at the Imperial Theatre in Sarnia, introducing students in Grades 3–12 to acting, singing, dancing, and stage performance.

Young performers in Sarnia will once again have an opportunity to step onto the stage this summer as the Theatre Sarnia Youth Group prepares to offer a series of theatre training programs for students interested in acting and musical theatre.

The programs, hosted at the Imperial Theatre’s studios at 168 Christina Street North, are designed to introduce children and teens to the fundamentals of performance while building confidence, creativity, and collaboration through hands-on learning.

Organizers say the camps provide an accessible introduction to theatre for beginners while also offering opportunities for students who already have an interest in performing arts.

Three programs will be offered throughout the summer, each tailored to different age groups and areas of theatre performance.

Junior Acting Program

The Junior Acting Program focuses on the basics of dramatic performance and is intended for students entering Grades 3 to 6 in the 2026–27 school year.

Participants will explore core acting skills through creative games and exercises that introduce character development, storytelling, improvisation, and stage presence.

The program runs July 6 to 10, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. each day. The cost to participate is $150.

Junior Musical Theatre Program

Students interested in singing and dancing alongside acting can take part in the Junior Musical Theatre Program, also designed for those entering Grades 3 to 6.

The program introduces the fundamentals of musical theatre performance, allowing participants to develop skills in acting, vocal performance, and choreography while learning how these elements come together on stage.

The Junior Musical Theatre Program runs July 6 to 10, 2026, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. daily. Registration costs $150.

Senior Musical Theatre Program

Older students will have the opportunity to participate in the Senior Musical Theatre Program, designed for youth entering Grades 6 through 12.

During the four-day intensive, participants will explore a different musical each day while learning songs, scenes, and choreography from a variety of productions. Students will also gain experience with elements of stage production, including costume, prop, and set creation.

The program concludes with a short performance showcasing what participants have learned during the week.

The Senior Musical Theatre Program will run August 4 to 7, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., at a cost of $250.

Due to strong demand, organizers say the senior program has already reached capacity, though a waitlist is available for interested families.

All programs require a minimum of eight participants to run, and space in the remaining sessions is limited.

Registration information and program forms are available through Imperial Theatre website.
