DESCRIPTION:The County of Lambton Public Works Department and Clean Harbors Canada Inc. will be hosting a mobile Household Hazardous Waste collection event in Lambton Shores this weekend to offer an additional opportunity for Lambton County residents to dispose of their household hazardous waste at no cost. \nThis one-day only mobile Household Hazardous Waste Collection event will be held on Saturday\, October 21st from 9:30 am until 2:00 pm at the County Public Works Depot located at 6958 Townsend Line\, Lambton Shores. \nCorrosive\, toxic\, reactive and flammable materials will be collected at the mobile depot\, these items should never be placed in a regular landfill because they have potential to injure sanitation workers and potential to damage the environment. \nExamples of these types of materials include: \nCorrosive                Toxic                    Reactive                  Flammable\nBatteries                  Pesticides               Pool Chemicals          Gasoline\nDrain Cleaners          Rat Poison              Ammonia                  Paints\nOven Cleaners          Cleaning Fluids       Bleach                       BBQ Starter\nPharmaceuticals     Aerosols                    Oils\nSolvents\nPropane Cylinders \nSharps (hypodermic needles) and fluorescent lightbulbs are also accepted. \nItems NOT accepted include: PCBs\, commercial\, industrial\, agricultural\, or radioactive wastes\, tires\, explosives (flares and ammunition)\, electronics\, and asbestos containers weighing more than 25kg (55lb). \nFor safety reasons\, please separate lithium batteries from all other battery types prior to drop-off. \nFor more information visit www.lambtononline.ca/hhw or call 519-845-0801.

Beginning October 7\, stop by the Gallery Saturday afternoons between 1pm and 3pm for a short\, artist-facilitated studio activity. \nThis month participants will learn how to design and create a room of their own using chalk pastels. This activity draws inspiration from the work of Frances-Anne Johnston in the upcoming exhibition A Family Palette: Frances-Anne Johnston\, Franklin Arbuckle and Franz Johnston. \nFamily Saturdays are free and open to everyone\, though children must be accompanied by an adult.
