DESCRIPTION:The Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery invites art and history lovers to attend an enlightening Art & Ideas lecture on Thursday\, November 16 at 7:00 p.m. \nThis lecture will feature Ottawa Art Gallery curator Rebecca Basciano\, who will explore the artistic career of under-represented artist Frances-Anne Johnston (1910-1987)\, one of Canada’s foremost painters of still life’s\, flowers\, and interiors. \nPositioned as a feminist recovery project\, this lecture is the result of extensive primary research\, creating new space for the appreciation and validation of an artistic practice that was shaped by domestic realities\, including motherhood. This lecture is held in conjunction with the exhibition “A Family Palette: Frances-Anne Johnston\, Franz Johnston and Franklin Arbuckle”. \nAfter the lecture\, attendees will have the opportunity to explore Johnston’s work within the exhibition space and engage in question and answer periods directly with the curator. \nTo attend this event\, registration is required and can be completed through the Art & Ideas page of the JNAAG website. \nArt & Ideas is a series of presentations that complement the current exhibits by drawing connections to their themes and by featuring discussions with specific artists and experts. DESCRIPTION:The new November activity for Family Saturday Studio Drop-Ins at the Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery begins Saturday\, November 4\, 2023. \nStop by the gallery Saturday afternoons between 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm to discover how to create unique fabrics designs using wood block stamps. The activity draws inspiration from the colourful fabric work of Frances-Anne Johnston in the exhibition A Family Palette: Frances-Anne Johnston\, Franklin Arbuckle and Franz Johnston. \nFamily Saturdays are are free and open to everyone\, although children must be accompanied by an adult. DESCRIPTION:Join us for our annual Christmas Bazaar & Vendor Market on Saturday\, November 4th at the Navy Club located at 1420 Lougar Avenue in Sarnia between 9:30 am & 3:00 pm. This event will feature 25 local vendors with homemade decor and gifts geared towards Christmas with something available for everyone on your gift list. We will have a couple of Bake Tables a variety of sweet treats. As well as individual size meat pies\, lasagna\, cabbage rolls and Shepherd’s pie. \nTake a break from shopping and have a hot lunch at Kiki’s Cafe featuring homemade chili and walking tacos. This event is a fundraiser hosted by Kiki’s Krusaders with proceeds going to the Navy Club and Community Outreach Programs.
