Call to action: Secure up to $60K for local accessibility projects

Local organizations have an opportunity to secure up to $60,000 for projects that make communities more accessible and inclusive.

The province’s EASE Grant is now open, offering up to $60,000 to fund projects that improve accessibility and support active, healthy living for older adults and people with disabilities. This is practical funding that can directly change how people move through and experience our community.

In Sarnia-Lambton, we have trails, parks, waterfront spaces, and community hubs that people rely on every day. Not all of these spaces are equally accessible to our residents. This funding is a chance to fix that.

The grant is open to municipalities, incorporated non-profit organizations, and Indigenous communities. Eligible projects include things like ramps, automatic doors, accessible washrooms, improved entrances and sidewalks, barrier-free pathways, and upgrades to outdoor spaces such as lighting, seating, and mobility supports.

It also supports more thoughtful additions, like mobility mats at beaches or charging stations along accessible trails. These are the kinds of changes that make the difference between someone being able to participate in community life or being left out of it.

Projects that go beyond minimum accessibility standards will be prioritized, which means there is room here for strong, forward-thinking ideas.

Applications are submitted through the Transfer Payment Ontario system, and organizations should register early, as setting up an account can take several days.

The deadline to apply is May 7, 2026, at 5 p.m. EST.

If you are part of a local organization or an Indigenous community with an idea that could improve accessibility, this is the moment to act. Funding like this does not come around often, and it has the potential to leave a lasting impact on Sarnia-Lambton.
