I am not usually disturbed by many headlines that involve Sarnia residents.  However, I could not resist expressing my anger at the audacity of the Sarnia Police assuming that they should be entitled to build a brand new facility that would accommodate at least 100 more additional personnel to service the inclusion of Point Edward and surrounding communities in Lambton County. The presumption of the Sarnia Police Service astounds me! Apparently it has astounded the Mayor and City Council of Point Edward as well who had not been approached with this plan at all. I think we can expect a similar result from across all of Lambton County.

On more than one occasion, assessments of the current facility on Christina Street has been done with respect to necessary modifications and upgrades. The latest figures are coming in closer to 120 million dollars for a new building, and that doesn't include decommissioning of the present facility nor associated costs with relocation, permits etc. Sarnia has not grown significantly in recent years to burden residents with massive tax increases for the next  three decades. It's past time for Chief Davis and his planning team to be realistic and abandon plans for expansion. Do what must be done and stay within budget restrictions – something every taxpayer has to do these days!
