I was born in 1958 in Michigan. My great aunt Marj Walton resided on McMillen Parkway and my mother; her great niece would vacation there. Our family loved the beach during the summer vacations. I learned to swim right there. I remember the park and grand oak trees and beautiful black squirrels. My friend Laurie got bit by one while with us on vacation one summer. I have fond memories of sites there, the beach before seawalls, and distant fog horns on warm sweltering nights with the windows open as we didn't have a/c then. My great grandmother, Ellen Taylor; (who I am named after), raised 4 children there with her husband Samuel Walton. Wonderful to have those memories from the 60's and 70's.
