In response to those who say, “Marilyn Gladu does not represent me”, I would agree.
Marilyn does not represent me either, but I did not vote conservative in the last election, nor in any federal elections since I became a Canadian. Am I pleased that her crossing the floor has swelled this liberal government close to a majority? Yes, because I truly believe in what Mark Carney is trying to achieve in this country of ours.
Was I shocked? Yes, because Marilyn has made her own views very public over the past years that she has represented our riding.
Was I surprised to hear from our mayor on national television that our community of Sarnia Lambton Bkejwanong is largely against this floor crossing? Frankly, yes.
I would hope there might be many in this community who might quietly acknowledge this action for its undoubted pragmatism.
Will Marilyn survive the next election as a liberal candidate for our community? That story has yet to be written.
