On August 21st, just a few days back, the Sarnia MP Marilyn Gladu had a barbecue planned at one of Sarnia’s local parks. Music was playing, people were joining in, and Gladu was laughing and mingling with her supporters.

On the other side, far away, pro-Palestinian supporters were also gathered, raising their banners in a peaceful, quiet protest. They had their own picnic set, with empty pots on a grey cloth.
Ms. Gladu peeked behind her shoulder at that group for a second, and then kept on laughing and chatting. One would have expected that a local MP would come over and sympathize with the community members she is still representing, even though she disagrees with them, and openly sides with the murderer, Israel. Marilyn needs to remember that she represents all of Sarnia, Palestinian cause supporters or otherwise.
Oh, and before I forget, I need to mention a tall man wearing jeans and a cap who did come closer to the group, recording their peaceful protest on his camera while his middle finger was raised the whole time. He was invited by the group to come over and chat with them, but he said, "You don't want to know what I think!" There was another couple who brought out an Israeli flag, took pictures with it, and then, with their heads bent, went back to their car to put it back. One or two attendees from Gladu's party did cross over to the pro-Palestinian side to have a friendly chat. It seems they had better manners than our MP, that's for sure. I am just wondering what if a pro-Palestinian had brought a Palestinian flag where Marilyn was, what would have happened then?
I must also mention that there were children at the park along with their families. I would love to know what their parents told them about why there were people standing far away carrying banners and Palestinian flags. Did the parents have the courage to tell the truth about families dying in Gaza and other areas in Palestine? That about 18,592 children so far have been killed (murdered) in Gaza since Oct 2023, according to the Gaza Health Ministry, also reported by the Washington Post on July 30th, 2025. stating that "Palestinian children have been killed at a rate of more than one per hour since this war began." (correction…it is not a war, it's MURDER, a GENOCIDE, a HOLOCAUST..but not a WAR!!!). About the forced starvation created by Israel, the babies without baby formula and diapers, and even the murder of young children at the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation?
