What if strengthening our local democracy began with something simple – listening?

On Thursday, March 26 at 6:30 p.m., community members are invited to take part in a Healthy Democracy, The People’s Table Community Conversation at the Sarnia Lambton Chamber of Commerce.

This is not a political event. It is a non-partisan, community-led initiative focused on one important question: how do people in Sarnia-Lambton engage with voting—and why do some choose not to?

Over the past few months, a small group of local residents has been working together to develop shared vision, mission, and values centred on respect, inclusion, and open dialogue. Our first step is to listen.

We want to hear from people who always vote, sometimes vote, or have never voted. Every experience matters. Whether you feel strongly engaged or somewhat disconnected, your perspective is important to understanding how we can strengthen participation across our community.

This gathering is designed to be a respectful and inclusive space where people can share their thoughts without judgment. There will also be an opportunity to complete a short community survey, which will help guide future efforts to support civic engagement in Sarnia-Lambton.

A healthy democracy depends on more than elections—it depends on people feeling informed, included, and heard.

If you’ve ever wondered how decisions are made, questioned whether your voice matters, or simply want to be part of a meaningful community conversation, we invite you to join us.

Let’s come together, listen to one another, and take a step toward a stronger local democracy.
