There has been a noise problem in Sarnia for over 20 years now according to feedback from the residents of Pier 1 on Sandy Lane and confirmed by all city councillors in Sarnia and Point Edward. A few people who modify their cars exhaust system just to make noise. Motorcycles just add to the noise level
Last year, we had a group of maybe a hundred bikers going by for about 10 minutes and we couldn't hear the TV dialog.
The police are powerless to catch them because they are short of manpower, and everything else is a higher priority – I sort of understand that. City Hall employees have told the Mayor there is nothing they can do about it – but that's just unacceptable.
Why can't they install a traffic-Cam for a few months and get evidence needed to enforce the laws? Speed bumps just don't do it.
One resident out walking his dog at 10.30 at night witnessed cars racing side by side on two separate occasions. A Cathcart Blvd resident has seen the same thing there.
Two residents have moved to the other side of the building to avoid the noise, and another resident thinks she has had enough and might move.
I am going to organise a delegation to Sarnia Council to plead the case.
