We believe that the majority of Sarnians share our appreciation for the magnificent mural that now brightens the foyer of our City Hall. The UNDRIP working group and especially Indigenous artist Kennady Osborne deserve our gratitude for this installation. Chi Miigwech!
Art is celebrated all over the world for its creativity, beauty and ability to enlighten us in ways that would be impossible without it. In Kennady’s mural we experience many things – beauty, hope, joy, wisdom, unity, welcome and love. In these dark times we should celebrate the talents of the artist and her art which will welcome those who enter City Hall for many years to come.
May the mural inspire us to look to a brighter future where all people live with respect and equality of opportunity while rejecting the hateful and destructive forces of racism and ignorance that have no place in any civilized society.
