With reference to the Humans of Sarnia series authored by Art Connolly. A great concept for The Journal allowing readers to get up close and personal with special people around town.
Some we know, some we don't, but Art Connolly leaves an lasting impression featuring some of the details of ordinary people just doing their jobs as well as exceptional people who work quietly behind the scenes expecting no accolades. I refer you to one of Art's recent stories on Lou Sprenger, someone I always thought of as 'man on the street'. He is first and foremost a pro-photographer whose photos have captured the very heart and soul of Sarnia. When I first met Lou it was at a DeGroot's Dog Days event. Then it was under the bridges, maybe a parade, one of the parks, or any event you can think of! "He's everywhere, he's everywhere!" I thought…kind of like Santa.
As a kid you had it in the back of your mind the unspoken words "how can he be everywhere at once?" "Hey didn't I just see him across town?" Art Connolly, I believe covers all aspects of his subjects and readers appreciate this…he touches the pulse of what makes people work and lives their lives as they do. And you get the feeling that the words conveyed cover everything.
Thanks Art Connolly.
