A mother argues that police social media posts regarding arrests fuel hatred against vulnerable people and invite harmful public commentary.

I left Facebook because of the police posting gossip and feeding the ignorant about people in our community.
So many in our community have a hatred for the homeless, addicted and troubled in our world and I feel this site only fuels their fire. My son was arrested and it was made public on the police site. The horrible comments about his character hurt deeply. As a parent with a child who is struggling with addiction we don't need to hear our community trash talk us, we do this enough to ourselves.
Yes the public have a right to know what illegal acts are being committed in their backyards, but I don't feel they should be able to respond in this manner.
A very disappointed and hurt mom.
