Peter Smith writes in on his opinion of the Bluewater Health Foundation and the Dream Home Lottery stating that housing concerns are changing and perhaps the lottery should be changing as well.

Once again this year, congratulations go to Bluewater Health Foundation for a successful Dream Home Lottery. Over the last 30 years of operation this event has raised over $10 million to support Bluewater Health programs and activities.
However, times are changing and people’s wants and needs have also changed.
What may have attracted supporters in the past may not work as well today, and may be missing an opportunity to reach a wider audience. Imagine an opportunity to win a zero-energy home full of the latest technology that insulates against the heat and cold and generates enough energy to meet all family needs? No electricity bill, no gas bill and enough green electricity to heat and cool the house while powering electric vehicles and appliances etc.
With the growing concern about rising energy costs, this may be just the right time to offer an alternative prize that meets those future energy cost concerns.
