Since April 1, Sarnia’s COVID-19 hotline has received more than 530 complaints from residents reporting possible emergency order violations.
One hotline tip led Sarnia Police to charge a 72-year-old man with failing to self-quarantine after returning from a trip out of the country.
And on Thursday a second charge was laid after a family was accused of holding a party with more than five people, the city said.
The hotline allows the public to file anonymous tips about businesses and individuals contravening the emergency rules for gatherings, social-distancing, non-essential businesses opening, and people using closed park spaces and facilities.
The email [email protected] is monitored daily. The phone line 1-877-472-7642 is available Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
