Sarnia’s Bluewater Cheer Athletics Club built on a strong showing at provincials by recording six top-six finishes at the Cheer Evolution National Championship.

The competition in Niagara Falls held April 8-10 is the nation’s most prestigious and featured 360 of the best teams from Canada and the U.S.

Bluewater’s Athletics Frost (17) was the top team in the Small Youth A 2 division, handily outscoring the competition in an 11-team field.

The Athletics Splash (21) finished second in the Mini B 1 division, while the Athletics Ice (23) placed second among nine teams in the Large Junior 2 division.

Other impressive finishes posted by Bluewater at nationals were a fourth in the Small Senior AA division, a fifth in the Large Senior 2 division, and a sixth in the Small Youth AA division.

In its third year of operation, the Sarnia club has 200 registered cheerleaders ages three to 18.
