Construction of a new launch ramp for recreational boaters was scheduled to begin this week at Sarnia Bay Marina.
The final phases of the Centennial Park remediation call for several sections on the waterfront to be closed off while workers install a new boat ramp, children’s playground and a promenade atop a stone seawall that will run from the former MacLean Centre to the marina boat fueling station.
The current boat launch will continue to operate until the new one is complete, city hall says.
The $10 million remediation began after asbestos and heavy metals were found in the soil, forcing the city to close the park three years ago.
All the work is expected to be done in November.
