The number of candidates seeking Sarnia-Lambton’s federal Conservative nomination is down to three.

Journalist J.D. Booth said he was informed by national party representatives Jan. 16 he’s ineligible to run because he hasn’t been a party member for six month.

Booth said he is disappointed, noting the rule has been waived for other Conservative candidates.

“This can’t be good for democracy in the short or long-term, he said.

The party’s flag-bearer will be selected Feb. 21 from the three remaining contenders, Marilyn Gladu, Terry Nyp and Peter Aarssen.
