This year’s tree will make its way down Christina Street on Wednesday, November 12, before being installed in the fountain area in front of City Hall. The large evergreen, donated by local resident Dan Rapaich, will once again serve as a centrepiece for the city’s holiday celebrations.
The City of Sarnia’s Recreation and Parkland Planning Services department expressed gratitude to the many individuals and businesses who make the installation possible each year. Sev-Con Paving is donating transportation services to move the tree, while Jebco Cranes will provide the equipment and expertise to lift it into place.
City staff also play a vital role in the annual setup. Engineering staff coordinated the necessary permits and traffic control, the Forestry team will oversee the installation, and Facilities staff prepared the grounds and lights that adorn both the tree and City Hall.
The City hopes residents will take time to enjoy the decorated tree throughout the holiday season — a symbol of community spirit and the start of festive celebrations in downtown Sarnia.
