City seeks public input on Kenwick Park redesign

Sarnia is seeking community feedback on a redesign of Kenwick Park in Bright’s Grove, with potential upgrades including a new basketball court, expanded pathways, and improved farmers’ market amenities.

The City of Sarnia is asking the public to help shape the future of Kenwick Park in Bright’s Grove.

Known for community events like the Sounds of Summer concert series, sports facilities, and a weekly farmers’ market, the park is now under review as some of its amenities approach the end of their lifespan. The city is developing a comprehensive design to guide upgrades and ensure new features fit seamlessly with existing ones.

“Kenwick Park is central not only to Bright’s Grove, but to our entire recreational landscape,” said Park and Facility Services Manager Tom Burnard. “As we move forward with design, we want to make sure those uses and the needs of our community are reflected in any future improvements.”

Potential improvements under consideration include a new basketball court, expanded pathway connections, a new playground, and enhanced facilities for the farmers’ market area.

The city began the process after council directed staff in June 2024 to prepare a park-wide plan that includes construction cost estimates and a phased asset reinvestment schedule. An architect has been retained, and local stakeholder and user groups have already provided input.

Residents and visitors can now complete an online survey at www.speakupsarnia.ca/Kenwick2025 until 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 5, 2025.

Feedback gathered will be used to create a draft design for presentation to city council, with another opportunity for public comment before final decisions are made.
