Community Futures Lambton opens applications for $40,000 in local grants

Community Futures Lambton is inviting local non-profits and community groups to apply for a slice of $40,000 in funding aimed at boosting economic development and grassroots innovation across the region.

Community Futures Lambton has officially opened the doors for its 2026-2027 Community Futures Grant Program. The initiative offers a total of $40,000 to support projects that drive economic growth and enhance wellbeing across Sarnia and Lambton County.

Local non-profits, charities, service clubs, and schools are encouraged to apply for grants ranging from $500 to $5,000. The funding is intended for initiatives scheduled to take place between April 1, 2026, and March 31, 2027.

The program highlights a significant gap between community needs and available institutional funding. Last year, the organization received 51 applications requesting more than $243,000, far exceeding the available budget.

Eligible projects for this year's intake include:

  • Youth-focused programs and skills development

  • Tourism growth and local promotion

  • Volunteer development and cultural projects

  • Innovation, technology, and training initiatives

Sarah Reaume, CEO of Community Futures Lambton, noted that the program reflects a commitment to grassroots impact. Through its mandate with the Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario, the organization aims to support projects that build local capacity.

Applications are being accepted throughout the month of March, with a firm deadline of March 31, 2026. Organizations that have received funding in previous years remain eligible to reapply for new projects.
