Lambton Public Health reported a sharp increase today in the number of COVID-19 tests results received, but the critical numbers remained largely unchanged.
The number of confirmed cases in Sarnia-Lambton rose to 132, up by one from 131 cases reported Saturday.
The number of fatalities remained unchanged at 13.
Fifteen percent of the people tested for the virus that causes COVID-19 have come back positive.
However, Bluewater Health is reporting an increase in the number of patients suspected of having the virus.
The hospital currently has 16 confirmed cases, unchanged from Saturday. Another 21 patients are believed to be infected and awaiting test results, up from 11 on Saturday.
Lambton Public Health and Bluewater Health say the arrival of additional test kits from Ontario has allowed for ramped up testing to begin locally.
The number of people who recovered from the disease has increased to 48 today, up from 47 on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Sarnia Police and bylaw enforcement officers have laid at least three charges under the Under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act.
They include a 72-year-old man who didn’t self-isolate after travelling, a family that held a party with more than five people present, and a business deemed non-essential that remained open.
