More than 100 people gathered in Sarnia to protest the federal government’s proposed anti-terrorism legislation on Saturday, March 14.

Bill C-51, which would give police broader powers to detain terror suspects and grant new powers to Canada’s spy agency, could be used to silence dissent and government critics, said protestors rallying in front of MP Pat Davidson’s office.

“We’re afraid of what Stephen Harper is going to do to our rights and freedoms,” said Lorraine Cameron-Barr, of Corunna, one of many who joined ‘National Day of Action’ rallies held across Canada.
