Family Counselling Centre joins provincial youth mental health initiative

Family Counselling Centre Sarnia-Lambton has joined One Stop Talk, a provincially funded virtual counselling service offering free mental health support to children and youth up to age 17.

The Family Counselling Centre Sarnia-Lambton is now part of One Stop Talk, a provincially funded mental health initiative that connects children and youth up to age 17 with free counselling by phone or online.

The virtual service allows youth across Ontario to access a single counselling session without an appointment. The program operates Monday to Friday from noon to 8 p.m. and Saturday from noon to 4 p.m.

The Sarnia-Lambton service is being delivered locally through the Family Counselling Centre in collaboration with St. Clair Child and Youth Services, the lead agency for child and youth mental health services in the region.

Youth can access the service through onestoptalk.ca and are connected with a counsellor within minutes. Counsellors are available to support young people dealing with concerns such as anxiety, bullying, stress or other mental health challenges.

When additional support is needed, a navigator can help connect youth with appropriate services in their local community.

The Family Counselling Centre’s involvement in the program is aimed at improving access to timely mental health support for children and youth in Sarnia-Lambton.
