Five-year-old Quinn shines at Light up the Night for Noelle

Senior Kindergarten student Quinn Sleightholm raised $1,270 for Noelle’s Gift to Children, earning the top individual fundraising spot at Chatham-Kent’s inaugural “Light up the Night for Noelle” event.

At just five years old, Quinn Sleightholm, a Senior Kindergarten student at Indian Creek Road Public School, is already making a big impact in her community.

Quinn was recently recognized as the top individual fundraiser at the Light up the Night for Noelle – CK Edition, collecting $1,270 in donations for Noelle’s Gift to Children. The inaugural Chatham-Kent event drew 240 participants and raised more than $20,000 to help local children in need.

Noelle’s Gift to Children provides essential items to children across the Chatham-Kent and Sarnia-Lambton communities. Quinn’s commitment to the cause came from a desire to help others. When asked what motivated her, she said, “Noelle's Gift helps other kids get the things they need. It is important to me to help other kids, that’s why I wanted to raise money for the run.”

Alongside participating in the event, Quinn reached out to family, friends, and members of the community to gather support—efforts that helped her earn the event’s top fundraising honour.

She wasn’t alone in her generosity. John McInnis and Chad Wheeler followed in second and third place among individual fundraisers, raising $600 and $540 respectively.

When asked if she would do it again, Quinn didn’t hesitate: “Yes, I would like to do it again because Noelle helps kids and that’s important!”

Her favourite parts of the event included running with her friends, the cheering crowd, and—of course—the glow sticks.

Several schools from the Lambton Kent District School Board also joined in with strong fundraising efforts. Indian Creek Road Public School led the way with $3,540 raised, followed by Tecumseh Public School with $2,599, and Winston Churchill Public School with $2,275.

Quinn’s generosity didn’t go unnoticed by those closest to her.

“As a teacher, I see the impact that Noelle’s Gift to Children makes in the lives of children, firsthand,” said Quinn’s mom, Allison Kelly, who also works for the LKDSB. “I am very proud of Quinn and incredibly thankful to our friends, family and community for helping her to help others.”
