Forest plans “Spy Week” for March Break with movies, riddles and family events

Families in North Lambton will have a full schedule of free activities to choose from during March Break as the Forest community launches a themed “Spy Week” from March 15 to 21.

The initiative brings together several local groups including the Downtown Forest BIA, the Kineto Theatre, the Forest Museum, the North Lambton Community Health Centre and other community partners. Organizers have coordinated a week of family-friendly events designed to encourage residents and visitors to explore the village while taking part in themed activities.

The week begins Sunday with the Kiwanis Club of Forest’s annual pancake breakfast at the Legion. At the same time, participants can pick up a “Riddle Route” guide that sends families throughout Forest to locate clues and letters hidden around town. Guides will also be available at several local locations including the Kineto Theatre, Forest Fritter Friends and the library.

Throughout the week, the historic Kineto Theatre will host a series of free daytime screenings of the Despicable Me films for families. The theatre will also offer evening movie screenings for adults featuring spy-themed classics.

Additional programming has been organized at several community spaces. The Forest fire station will host an open house during the week, while the local library will run a variety of activities including crafts, a toddler program, junior maker programming, kids club events and Lego sessions.

Recreation opportunities are also part of the schedule, with youth skating planned at The Shores Recreation Centre.

The week concludes with a themed dress-up spy lunch at the Kineto Theatre, where participants who completed the riddle challenge can submit entries for prize draws. A free public skate sponsored by the Kiwanis Club will wrap up the community celebration.

Organizers say the goal of the initiative is to create a week where families can move between activities around Forest while taking part in a shared theme. By combining movies, puzzles, recreation and community programming, the event aims to offer something for residents of all ages during the school break.

Information about the full schedule of events and activity locations is available through the Kiwanis Club of Forest and participating community organizations.
