Girl mentoring program supported

A local program that pairs girls ages 9 to 13 with supportive female mentors has received $160,000 from the Canadian Women’s Foundation. Sarnia-Lambton Rebound said the money secures and expands one of its flagship programs for the next four years.

Girls and mentors are being accepted for the next session, which starts Oct. 5 and runs bi-weekly on Wednesdays at 10 Lorne Crescent. New this year is the addition of junior mentors, ages 14 to 17, who will join the adult mentors.

A session for Canadian newcomers and Anishinabek girls begins Oct. 6 and runs biweekly Thursdays at the YMCA Career and Learning Centre.
