A truck driver is delayed by a gaggle of Canada geese making its leisurely away across Venetian Boulevard in Point Edward on Jan. 20.

Large numbers of the bold waterbirds are opting to overwintering in Sarnia rather than fly south, thanks to abundant food and open water.

One day last week, thousand of geese resting just offshore in Lake Huron formed an almost unbroken line from Canatara Park to Murphy Road.
