The Judith & Norman Alix Art Gallery will return to in-person lectures this month — for the first time since before the pandemic.
‘Art & Ideas’ is a series of discussions focused on expanding the ideas and topics found in current exhibitions or artwork from the JNAAG’s permanent collection.
The first lecture, “Art, Avatars and Outer Space” features Matthew Ryan Smith, guest curator of the exhibition From ‘Skyworld to Cyberspace,’ Oct. 13 at 7 p.m.
The second, ‘In Conversation with Darla Fisher-Odjig’ features the Lambton County based artist reflecting on her own exhibition, ‘Beneath the Mask: Symbols as a Healing Phenomenon,’ Oct. 27 at 7 p.m.
Fisher-Odjig will share how colonization has had an effect in her life and how she continues to “teach through art and poetry the elegance and masterfulness of First Nations heritage.”
