The Kiwanis Club of Sarnia-Lambton Golden K has unveiled a diverse April presentation schedule featuring local experts on backyard astronomy, Canadian genealogy, and the environmental recovery of the St. Clair River

The Kiwanis Club of Sarnia-Lambton Golden K is inviting the community to its April speaker series, hosted Tuesday mornings at the Lochiel Kiwanis Community Centre. The upcoming lineup highlights local expertise ranging from historical narratives to environmental success stories.
Meetings are held in a hybrid format, allowing residents to attend in person at 180 College Ave. N. or join via Zoom. The sessions begin at 9:30 a.m., with the digital meeting room opening at 9:00 a.m. for early participants.
April 7: David Jenkins presents "A Night in the Life of a Backyard Astronomer." Jenkins, a retired engineer, will discuss the challenges of light pollution and his experiences building a private observatory for astrophotography.
April 14: Murray Bouchette shares "Encounters with History – the first 5 generations of Bouchettes in Canada." This presentation tracks a family lineage involved in shaping Canadian geography and culture since 1720.
April 21: Kathryn Anderson of Ocean Legacy discusses "Plastics v Oceans – how can we help?" An education ambassador now living in Sarnia, Anderson will address plastic pollution in the Pacific and our own Great Lakes.
April 28: Brenda Lorenz and Jackie Marcoux present "The St. Clair River – the journey to recovery." The talk details the successful collaboration required to move the river from a designated "Area of Concern" toward its expected delisting.
The Golden K is one of five Kiwanis clubs operating within Sarnia-Lambton. The organization remains focused on community service and local engagement, centering its efforts on improving the region one project at a time.
