A new AI-focused development site at Lambton College will support Ontario manufacturers looking to adopt cutting-edge technology

Lambton College has launched a new Artificial Intelligence for Advanced Manufacturing (AI4AM) Development Site, part of a province-wide effort to accelerate the use of AI in Ontario’s advanced manufacturing sector.
The college joins a network of ten Technology Development Sites (TDS) established under Ontario’s Critical Industrial Technologies (CIT) initiative. The initiative, introduced in the province’s 2023 budget, is a $50-million investment over three years to help small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) adopt technologies such as AI, robotics, quantum computing, and cybersecurity.
Lambton’s new AI4AM site will focus specifically on artificial intelligence applications, offering Ontario manufacturers access to expertise in machine learning, predictive analytics, and computer vision. Up to 12 companies are expected to receive customized support to scale and commercialize AI tools that can improve efficiency and reduce costs.
“As a recognized leader in applied research and innovation, Lambton College is proud to contribute to the CIT network and Ontario’s vision of technology-driven economic growth,” said Dr. Mehdi Sheikhzadeh, Senior Vice President, Research & Innovation at Lambton College. “Through AI4AM we are equipping SMEs with cutting-edge AI tools and expertise, while enabling innovation that drives sustainability, resilience, and economic growth across the province.”
The AI4AM site builds on Lambton’s national reputation in applied research. The college is one of the few in Canada to operate three NSERC Technology Access Centres: the Digital Transformation Lab, Lambton Manufacturing Innovation Centre, and the Bioindustrial Process Research Centre.
