The library is asking residents to get creative this month to help brighten the day of local seniors. The annual “Valentine’s for Long-Term Care” initiative is collecting cards until Jan. 31.

Lambton County Library is inviting the community to create handmade cards for residents of the county’s long-term care homes and adult day programs.
The annual "Valentine's for Long-Term Care" initiative aims to deliver messages of kindness to seniors across the region.
In 2025, the library delivered 670 Valentine's cards to residents living at the county’s three municipally operated long-term care homes, participants in adult day programs, and members of the Mobile Library Service.
"Valentine's for Long-Term Care creates moments of connection and brings joy to those who receive the cards," said Adrianne Lebert, Public Services Coordinator.
Lebert encouraged participants to create "fun and colourful cards with positive messages that can resonate with anyone."
Community members, schools, and local organizations can drop off their handmade cards at any Lambton County Library location during regular operating hours.
To support the initiative, select library locations are offering card-making programs. A complete list of these sessions is available on the library's online calendar.
All cards submitted by Saturday, Jan. 31 will be delivered in time for Valentine's Day.
