Six members of the IODE Margaret Stokes Chapter, Petrolia, were honoured to receive an Ontario Volunteer Service Award at the Dante Club on Thursday, October 16th. MPP Bob Bailey presented the awards, which recognize an individual volunteer’s continuous years of commitment and dedicated service to an organization.
The Imperial Order Daughters of the Empire (IODE) is a national women's charitable organization in Canada. Members focus their volunteerism on Children, Education, and Community Services to enhance the quality of life for individuals. The local Margaret Stokes Chapter in Petrolia was established in 1949 and is part of this tradition of community service.
The Ontario Volunteer Service Awards are an initiative by the provincial government to thank adult volunteers for continuous years of service to a single organization within Ontario. Adults are typically recognized for continuous service ranging from five to 65 years.
The recipients, who were recognized for their long-term service, include:
