‘Mini-forest’ taking shape in Sarnia park

Members of the community joined Climate Action Sarnia-Lambton members at Wiltshire Park on Saturday to expand the area of a “mini forest” first planted in the spring. This area will eventually become a mature “forest” of native plants and trees.

Members of the community joined Climate Action Sarnia-Lambton members at Wiltshire Park on Saturday to expand the area of a “mini forest” first planted in the spring.

This area will eventually become a mature “forest” of native plants and trees.

“With this project we are working to change urban grass areas into biodiverse habitats for many species through the planting of multiple types of vegetation,” the group noted.

The ‘Fall Reforestation Project’ involves the planting of trees and various low shrubs and mulching to change urban turf into mini-forests.

The project was carried out in partnership with the City of Sarnia.
