Sarnia-Lambton is now under a snow squall warning as lake effect snow squalls of Lake Huron move into the area.

Environment Canada says a weak system is bringing light snow to southwestern Ontario, beginning Friday afternoon and into the evening.

“Lake effect snow squalls off Lake Huron currently affecting Michigan will move into Ontario this afternoon and slowly drift eastward tonight,” the warning stated, pointing to locally heavy snowfall with accumulations near 15 cm, and peak snowfall rates exceeding 5 cm per hour.

Significantly reduced visibility in heavy snow.“Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility in some locations. Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations.”

Drivers are reminded to prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop.
