Lambton Kent District School Board has announced the winners of its “Name Our Salt Spreader” contest.
The initiative invited students across Sarnia-Lambton and Chatham-Kent to submit name ideas for the board’s winter maintenance equipment. In total, 83 classroom submissions were received, reflecting a wide range of humour, school pride, and imagination from students of all ages.
Community voting remained open for six days and generated an impressive 99,160 votes from students, families, staff, and residents across the region.
Two winning names have now been selected. In Sarnia-Lambton, Mr. Melt, submitted by Mr. Corver’s Grade 6 class at Rosedale Public School in Sarnia, earned top honours. In Chatham-Kent, Ice, Ice, Salty, submitted by Mrs. Brown and Mr. Haley’s kindergarten class at King George VI Public School in Chatham, was chosen as the winner.
Both classes will receive a celebratory pizza party, and their winning names will be displayed on the salt spreader trucks operating in their respective regions for the remainder of the winter season.
