The Water Testing Portal offers a faster and more convenient way to submit water samples for bacterial testing and access results online. Residents can complete their electronic requisition form, drop off samples locally, and view laboratory reports within two to four business days.

Public Health Ontario’s free testing program screens for E. coli and total coliforms, which are bacterial indicators that may signal contamination in drinking water systems. Routine testing helps ensure that private water sources remain safe, particularly for infants, seniors, and those with weakened immune systems.

Water samples must be tested within 48 hours of collection to ensure accurate results. The new online system replaces paper forms, and results are available on the portal, by telephone, or by e-mail.
