A prime parcel of land on London Line is being declared surplus once again after a deal to build a long-term care home on the site collapsed.

Sarnia City Council is being asked to declare the property at 1597 London Line surplus to municipal needs, following the termination of a previous sale agreement.
In 2021, the City had agreed to sell the land to Revera Inc. for the development of a long-term care home. However, that agreement was terminated in June 2025 after Revera’s homes were acquired by Southbridge Health Care.
The land, located near Perch Creek, is designated for mixed-use development, which allows for mid-to-high-rise residential and commercial projects. City staff note that a new party has already expressed interest in negotiating a purchase of the property.
Any future development on the site will face hurdles, including the need to construct a temporary access driveway or extend a collector road south from London Line. The City also maintains a pumping station on the property, requiring easements for maintenance access.
