Petrolia Community Fund opens 2026 impact grant applications

Since 2012, the fund has returned more than $83,000 to the town for youth programs, facility upgrades and community projects.

Applications are now open for the 2026 Petrolia Community Impact Grants, which support community betterment projects within the Town of Petrolia. The deadline to apply is Nov. 30.

The Petrolia Community Fund operates in collaboration with the Sarnia Community Foundation (SCF). Established in 2012, it has disbursed more than $83,000 back into the town, supporting youth programs, community facility improvements and community projects.

Applications can be emailed to the SCF office at [email protected]. Questions about the granting process can be directed to the office at 519-332-2588 or through the SCF website at sarniacommunityfoundation.ca.

Mayor R. Brad Loosley said the fund reflects the town’s character. “At the heart of Petrolia is an undeniable pride in our community. A pride that comes from being a part of something very special. Our community thrives because of the continued generosity of spirit that is shared by our residents and community supporters. We are so grateful to those that share such meaningful gifts with us.”

Mike Barron, executive director of the SCF, said the foundation is looking forward to the grant process. “There is so much happening in the Town of Petrolia, including the growth of the Petrolia Community Fund. We certainly look forward to assisting with the Petrolia Community Impact Grants!”

Anyone who would like more information on the fund or wants to contribute can contact Barron at the SCF office at 519-332-2588 or visit the Town of Petrolia’s community fund page at town.petrolia.on.ca/about-Petrolia/community-fund.

Petrolia, known as The Greatest Town on Earth, is regarded as the cradle of the global oil industry. The community fund is one way residents can continue building on that heritage.
