A 50-year-old Petrolia woman faces criminal negligence charges in connection to a child that was injured after falling into a backyard pool last month.
Lambton OPP said the incident occurred shortly after 3 p.m. on January 24, when police and EMS responded to the home on Juniper Crescent in Petrolia.
“The child was transported to hospital in London for treatment and was later released,” a news release stated.
As a result of the investigation, members of the Lambton County Crime Unit, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, charged the woman with Criminal Negligence Causing Bodily Harm.
The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Sarnia on March 22, 2023.
Earlier this month, The Journal reported that 21-month-old Waylon Saunders survived a near-drowning after falling though the ice of an outdoor pool at his Petrolia daycare, January 24.
