Infrastructure work finished as Lambton Shores advances phased community space project.

Phase one of the downtown Forest parkette project is nearly complete, marking a key milestone in Lambton Shores’ efforts to create a new community gathering space in Forest.
Initial construction work has included wall restoration, concrete work and water servicing. Hydro work is currently underway, with sod scheduled to be installed in the spring.
The parkette is being developed in phases, with the second phase expected to include furniture installation and landscaping. The municipality has applied to the Rural Ontario Development grant program to help support the next stage of the project.
The site is located on two formerly vacant lots on King Street West that were purchased by Lambton Shores council in early 2024 as part of ongoing downtown revitalization efforts. When complete, the parkette is expected to feature seating areas, gardens and trees, mixed-use seating, and a small stage designed for local performers and community events.
Planning for the project has included collaboration with local stakeholder groups to identify desired features and uses for the space. Funding challenges have shaped the phased construction approach, following an unsuccessful grant application in 2024.
Municipal officials continue to position the Forest parkette as a flexible, community-focused space intended to support events, activations and everyday use in the downtown core.
