The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) has issued a second-quarter payment to the Village of Point Edward for hosting the Starlight Casino. The payment, covering the period from July 1 to September 30, totals $423,428.

This latest contribution brings the Village’s total receipts for the OLG’s current fiscal year (April 1, 2025, to March 31, 2026) to $848,234.

Since the gaming site first opened in April 2000, the Village of Point Edward has amassed a significant total of $54,761,180 in non-tax gaming revenue. These funds are vital to the municipality, often used for infrastructure projects, enhancing local services, and contributing to the village's operating budget.

Payments to host communities like Point Edward are calculated using a graduated scale based on the gaming revenue generated at the hosted site, a formula consistently applied across all land-based casinos in the province under the Municipality Contribution Agreement.

The OLG is committed to sharing gaming proceeds with local communities, driving economic development, including infrastructure improvements and job creation. This local investment is part of OLG's broader commitment to Ontario, which sees 100 per cent of its profits reinvested back into the province to support priorities such as healthcare and education.

Across Ontario, the cumulative impact of these payments is substantial, with host communities having received almost $2.3 billion in non-tax gaming revenue since 1994. Furthermore, private-sector service providers have invested more than $2.9 billion in capital projects across the province over the past nine years, leading to the development of new and expanded gaming and resort facilities.
